VYTAUTAS PADGURECKAS, EGLĖ LAMANAUSKAITĖ-PLUKIENĖ

Diabetes is one of the biggest medical problems in the world, which, according to Harris (2017), results from socio-economic changes in society, rising living standards, obesity and increasing stress levels. The symptoms of type 2 diabetes can be controlled but not curable, and the aim of diabetes control is to facilitate the course of the disease, regulate blood sugar levels, and thus prevent possible acute and / or chronic complications. The statistical data confirm that the problem of investigation of the process of controlling type 2 diabetes is very topical. Physiotherapy, which is an essential tool for the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes, research is particularly important.

MANAGEMENT OF ADVERSE EVENTS ENSURING PATIENS SAFETY

Viljaras Reigas, Gintarė Aukštikalnytė

Adverse events providing health care services are quite often and result in enormous economic, social, psychologic and moral damages (Istomina, 2005). Research in Lithuania and other countries revealed that damages of adverse events in healthcare institutions are enormous, starting with economic impacts and finishing with patient deaths. Because of this a detailed analysis, problem revealing, publicity and searching for possible decisions are very important. The Purpose of this Research is to reveal awareness of nurses about adverse events ensuring patient safety in hospitals. A quantitative research was completed in Health Care Institutions. The written survey method was chosen to gather the research data. The analysis of the research data revealed that 84,5 per cent of the research participants agree that management of adverse events is important for the quality of services provided. Most research participants state that they are aware of the principles of adverse event management, that is the period of time to inform about the adverse events, what state institutions should be informed and what documents should be prepared, etc. Still only 27,6 per cent of the participants have individually registered an adverse event. This Research shows that Adverse events are those that occur because of the activities resulting in and adverse result to a certain patient, and an adverse event occurs not because of a certain factor, but several conditions and their interrelation.2. The research revealed that most participants are aware of the concept of an adverse event and they stated that the registration procedures are obligatory in the institutions they worked in. Also, most nurses stated that in their institutions adverse events are registered and they are aware of management procedures of adverse events and they agree that such procedures are important for the nursing services quality. 3. Statistically more research participants, having longer work experience, are aware of the concept of an adverse event, legal base and management procedures. The nurses with shorter work experience are more informed about trainings in their institutions about management of adverse events.

FACTORS DETERMINING SATISFACTION WITH STUDIES: STUDENTS’ VIEW

KRISTINA SAMAŠONOK

The article is devoted to the theoretical analysis of the factors determining students’ satisfaction with their studies and ways of increasing it. It also supports the importance of study process, external factors and the quality of teaching in the process of increasing the level of satisfaction with studies. The research aim: based on the survey of Lithuanian university students’ opinions, to establish the factors determining students’ level of satisfaction with their studies and to propose the ways to increase it. Applying quantitative research, we have established the factors determining students’ satisfaction connected to the organization of study process, ways of teaching, study methods applied and teacher’s role. Using qualitative research strategy, we have established the students’ view to the possibilities of increasing studies satisfaction. The results of this research will have the lasting value in the scientific discussion about the possibilities of increasing students’ satisfaction with their studies.
